Lรกszlรณ Rajk was a prominent Hungarian anti-fascist resistance veteran, communist politician, and foreign minister who became the central victim of Mรกtyรกs Rรกkosi's notorious 1949 Stalinist show trials. Tortured and executed on fabricated treason charges, his dramatic posthumous rehabilitation and solemn public reburial on 6 October 1956 drew 200,000 mourners and ignited the 1956 Hungarian Revolution.
