Archival Overview
Legendary intelligence officer and logistical coordinator for the FLN in the Cherchell region, who endured brutal torture without breaking and was thrown from a military helicopter.
Biographical Record
Yamna Oudai, celebrated by her code name Zoulikha, joined the Algerian Revolution after colonial forces executed her husband and son. Appointed by Colonel Si M'Hamed to oversee finances, medical supplies, and intelligence for the ALN across the Chenoua mountains, she ran an intricate underground network.
Arrested by French paratroopers in October 1957, she was paraded in chains through the streets of Cherchell to intimidate the population, answering with defiant patriotic slogans. After enduring ten days of merciless interrogation without yielding a single name, she was pushed to her death from a helicopter; her body was only discovered and identified decades later in 1984.
