Biographical Record
Zaynab an-Nafzawiyyah was a wealthy, educated noblewoman from the Nafzawa Berber tribe living in the prosperous merchant city of Aghmat. Renowned for her unmatched beauty, razor-sharp intellect, and political sagacity, she declared that she would marry only a man capable of conquering the entire Maghreb.
After marrying Abu Bakr ibn Umar and subsequently Yusuf ibn Tashfin, Zaynab served as de facto co-ruler of the Almoravid state.
