Biographical Record
Vojin Komadina was born on November 8, 1933, in Karlovac. He completed his composition studies at the Music Academy in Sarajevo under Božidar Trudić. For over three decades, Komadina was one of Bosnia and Herzegovina's leading classical music creators and pedagogues.
Komadina developed an original compositional language known as 'folkloric avant-garde', utilizing the ancient chromatic intervals of Bosnian mountain folklore (dvojnice, ganga) in contemporary orchestral forms, such as his celebrated Nijemo glamočko kolo and piano concertos. He served as Secretary of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of the Republika Srpska and first Rector of the University of East Sarajevo.
