Biographical Record
Vlado Milošević was born on April 10, 1901, in Banja Luka. After studying music and pedagogy in Zagreb and Prague, Milošević returned to Banja Luka, dedicating six decades of field research to collecting and transcribing traditional songs of the Krajina, Ozren, and Zmijanje regions.
His authoritative four-volume ethnomusicological study, Bosanske narodne pjesme (Bosnian Folk Songs), saved irreplaceable oral and vocal polyphonic traditions from disappearance. He composed numerous choral cantatas, string quartets, and the opera Jazavac pred sudom (based on Petar Kočić). Banja Luka's Academy of Arts and Music School bear his name.
