Edvaldo Izidio Neto 'Vava' (1934–2002) was a powerhouse centre-forward for Vasco da Gama, Atletico Madrid, and Palmeiras, famed for ferocious physical courage inside the penalty box, clinical aerial finishing, and unrelenting pressing of opposing defenses.

At the 1958 World Cup, Vava scored five goals, including two in the 5-2 final victory over Sweden. Four years later in Chile, stepped up in Pele's injury absence to finish as joint-top scorer with four goals, sealing the 3-1 final against Czechoslovakia and cementing his status as one of football's ultimate big-game performers.
