Tyrus Raymond 'Ty' Cobb (1886–1961), known as The Georgia Peach, was one of the fiercest, most relentlessly competitive athletes in sports history. Spending 22 seasons with the Detroit Tigers, Cobb set 90 MLB records during his career.

His career batting average of .366 (or .367 depending on historical source) remains the highest in Major League history. When the inaugural Baseball Hall of Fame class was elected in 1936, Cobb received more votes than any other player, including Babe Ruth and Honus Wagner.
