Biographical Record
Tsuguharu Foujita (1886–1968 CE) graduated from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts, arriving in Montparnasse in 1913 with a bowl haircut, round spectacles, and an earring.
He became an overnight international sensation in 1921 by developing a top-secret luminous, porcelain-like milky-white ground upon which he painted sinuous calligraphic nudes, cats, and portraits.
