Trevor Bannister

Trevor Gordon Bannister served in the British Army during his National Service in Singapore before training at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He honed his comic timing in regional repertory theater and farce before joining the BBC in 1972.

From 1972 to 1979, Bannister starred as Mr. Lucas in 'Are You Being Served?', acting as the working-class everyman whose witty insolence regularly punctured the pomposity of Captain Peacock and Mrs. Slocombe before 22 million viewers. He was also a fixture of British theater and starred in 'Last of the Summer Wine'.
