Tom Finney served in the Royal Armoured Corps in Egypt and Italy during World War II before making his debut for Preston North End in 1946. Blessed with ambidextrous skill, rapid acceleration, and clinical crossing, he was renowned for his absolute loyalty to his hometown club.

Finney won 76 England caps and was named Footballer of the Year twice (1954, 1957). The iconic photograph 'The Splash', capturing him gliding across a waterlogged Stamford Bridge pitch in 1956, remains one of the most famous sports photographs ever taken.
