Thomas à Kempis (c. 1380–1471 CE) entered the Canons Regular of Saint Augustine at the Mount Saint Agnes monastery near Zwolle, spending seventy-two years in quiet monastic simplicity.

A skilled scribe who copied the Latin Bible four times, he authored De Imitatione Christi, which guided believers to reject worldly ambition, embrace humility, and walk intimately with Christ.
