Known as the 'Cumberland Warhorse' for his ferocious parliamentary oratory, Tupper served Macdonald as Minister of Railways, driving the completion of the Canadian Pacific Railway. In 1896, he briefly served as Prime Minister, remaining the last surviving Father of Confederation at his death at age 94.
