Biographical Record
Sidi Yahia El Aidli was a towering spiritual leader born in the Soummam valley of Kabylia. After rigorous study in the intellectual academies of Bejaïa, he retreated into spiritual asceticism before establishing the celebrated Zawiya of Tamokra around 1440.
His zawiya became a thriving sanctuary for learning, offering free education, hospitality, and grain storage to rural communities during famines. El Aidli advocated spiritual purification, social justice, and communal mutual aid; his disciples spread his teachings throughout Kabylia and the Bibans, creating an enduring network of cultural resilience.
