Biographical Record

Sidi Mansour Ghulam al-Din was an ascetic mystic who lived along the coast north of Sfax in the 14th century. Dedicating his life to spiritual detachment, prayer, and aiding fishermen and maritime travelers, his coastal ribat-zawiya was an open sanctuary for the needy.

His spiritual memory was commemorated for centuries with annual maritime moussem festivals, and his name was immortalized globally in the celebrated rhythmic Stambeli and folk anthem Sidi Mansour Ya Baba, celebrated across the Arab and Mediterranean worlds.
