Biographical Record
Sidi Boukrana was a beloved holy man in Bizerte during the Muradid period. Living in ascetic detachment overlooking the entrance of the sea channel connecting the Mediterranean to Lake Bizerte, he was considered the spiritual guardian of the harbor.
His zawiya served as a center for maritime lookout, nightly Quranic recitation, and providing soup and lodging to destitute dockworkers. His annual festival remains a cherished civic tradition in Bizerte.
