One of the Seven Saints of Marrakech, known as 'Moul El Ksour' (Master of the Palaces), who succeeded Sidi Abd al-Aziz al-Tebba' as leader of the Jazuliyya order and predicted the rise of the Saadian dynasty.
Biographical Record
Abdallah ibn Ajana al-Ghazwani (c. 1460–1529) belonged to the Gazula Berber tribe of the Souss. After completing advanced studies in Islamic jurisprudence in Fez, he became the foremost disciple of Sidi Abd al-Aziz al-Tebba' in Marrakech, mastering the contemplative path of Imam al-Jazuli.
When the Wattasid Sultan of Fez grew jealous of his immense spiritual influence and imprisoned him, Ghazwani accepted his confinement with serene detachment before being released. Moving to the Ksour quarter of Marrakech, he designed ingenious hydraulic channels, revitalized desert agriculture, and supported the rising Saadian dynasty in liberating Moroccan coastal ports from Portuguese colonization.
