Biographical Record
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu was born in the village of Moosa in Mansa district, Punjab, and studied electrical engineering at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College in Ludhiana before moving to Brampton, Ontario, as an international student. Taking the stage name Sidhu Moose Wala to honor his village, he skyrocketed to international fame in 2017 with his breakthrough track "So High", blending gritty rural Punjabi storytelling with Western trap and hip-hop beats.
Moose Wala released blockbuster albums PBX 1 (2018) and Moosetape (2021), becoming the first Punjabi artist to reach the UK Asian Music Charts at number one and enter the Billboard Global 200. Revering Tupac Shakur, his songs celebrated rural pride and openly addressed gang rivalries, guns, and political corruption. In December 2021, he joined the Indian National Congress. On May 29, 2022, Moose Wala was ambushed in his SUV and shot dead by thirty rounds from rival gang assailants in Mansa, sparking worldwide grief and tribute from Drake and Burna Boy.
