Biographical Record

Born into the Shakya clan in Lumbini, Prince Siddhartha renounced royal palaces after encountering the realities of old age, sickness, and death. Following six years of ascetic wandering, he attained enlightenment at Bodh Gaya, becoming the Buddha (the Awakened One).

He spent forty-five years walking across the Gangetic plain, preaching the Four Noble Truths, the Noble Eightfold Path, and universal compassion (Karuna), touching millions across Asia and the world.

Departed his princely palace at age twenty-nine to find an end to human suffering.
