Biographical Record
Seidou Njimoluh Njoya was born in 1904, the son of the great inventor-king Sultan Ibrahim Njoya. Educated in French, German, and the Bamum script, he was enthroned as the 18th Sultan and Mfon of Bamum in 1933 following his father's death in exile, successfully reconciling royal authority with colonial and post-colonial republican administrations.
Sultan Seidou served as a member of Cameroon's Legislative Assembly, Ambassador, and as Mayor of Foumban for over three decades. He restored his father's royal palace, revitalized the Royal Museum of Foumban, and protected the sacred Bamum art of bronze casting, wood carving, and traditional beadwork until his death in 1992.
