Biographical Record
Sameera Moussa (1917–1952) graduated first in her class from Cairo University with the passionate mentorship of Ali Moustafa Mosharafa. Following her mother's death from cancer, Moussa dedicated her life to nuclear physics, famously declaring: 'I will make nuclear treatment for cancer as cheap and accessible as aspirin.'
Earning her doctorate in England on the medical absorption of X-rays, Moussa formulated a revolutionary equation to break down atomic nuclei using cheap metals like copper. She founded the Atomic Energy for Peace International Conference in Cairo. While on an elite research fellowship visiting nuclear laboratories in the United States in 1952, her car was struck and forced off a cliff in California under mysterious circumstances.
