Samuel Jackson 'Sam' Snead (1912–2002), affectionately known as Slammin' Sammy, possessed what is widely recognized as the smoothest, most beautiful, and naturally graceful swing in the history of golf. Over an astonishing professional career spanning six decades, Snead won 82 official PGA Tour events—a record he shares with Tiger Woods.
Snead won seven major championships: three Masters, three PGA Championships, and the 1946 Open Championship at St Andrews. Remarkably, Snead made the cut in a major at age 67 and shot a 66 at age 67 on the PGA Tour.
