Biographical Record
Rubén Juárez was born in Córdoba province and raised in Lanús, Buenos Aires. Mentored by bandoneon giant Aníbal Troilo, he debuted at Caño 14 in 1969, astonishing audiences by performing complex bandoneon counterpoints while singing with an expressive, raspy baritone.
Juárez revitalized tango for younger generations in the 1970s and 1980s, collaborating with Armando Pontier, Raúl Garello, and rock icon Charly García. His compositions, such as 'Mi bandoneón y yo' and 'Candombe blanco', confirmed his genius as one of the last authentic tango masters.
