Biographical Record
Ricardo Rodriguez (1942–1962) was a national bicycle champion before entering motor racing alongside his brother Pedro. In 1960, driving a Ferrari 250 TR59/60 for the North American Racing Team (NART), he finished second overall at the 24 Hours of Le Mans aged just eighteen years and 133 days.
Enzo Ferrari immediately signed the teenage prodigy. In his F1 debut at the 1961 Italian Grand Prix at Monza, Rodriguez qualified on the front row in second place, becoming the youngest driver to start from the front row in F1 history for over five decades. He was killed at twenty during practice in Mexico City.
