Biographical Record

Qiu Chuji (1148–1227 CE), master of the Dragon Gate (Longmen) lineage, was summoned by Genghis Khan, who sought the secret of immortality.

At age seventy-four, Qiu traveled across deserts and mountains to the Hindu Kush, telling the Khan that there is no medicine for immortality, only medicine for prolonging life: to love people and stop killing; the Khan granted tax exemptions that protected temples across China.
