Biographical Record
Born into the Banu Hashim clan of the Quraysh in Mecca, Muhammad was orphaned at an early age and earned universal renown across the Arabian peninsula for his absolute integrity, known as Al-Amin (The Trustworthy). In 610 CE, during solitary contemplative retreat in the Cave of Hira on Jabal an-Nour, he received the first revelations of the Quran through the Archangel Gabriel (Jibril).
Faced with persecution by the Meccan merchant aristocracy, he led the historic migration (Hijrah) to Medina in 622 CE, establishing the Constitution of Medina—one of history's earliest charters of pluralistic civic governance and mutual protection. His farewell pilgrimage sermon delivered on Mount Arafat declared the fundamental equality of all humanity regardless of race, color, or tribal origin.
