Sixth-century Sasanian spiritual prophet who instituted radical egalitarianism, universal pacification, and communal sharing of wealth and land to dismantle feudal greed and class oppression.

Biographical Record

Mazdak taught that God created the earth and its resources to be shared equally among all humanity. Greed, envy, and social stratification, he argued, originated when darkness fractured the primal harmony of light.

Winning the patronage of Sasanian Shahanshah Kavad I, he opened royal granaries to the impoverished and enacted sweeping agrarian reforms, surviving in Persian historical memory as an immortal symbol of human fraternity.
