Archival Overview

Noble Hebrew captive who rose to become prime minister under Babylonian and Persian emperors. Interpreted the handwriting on the wall and survived the lions' den through unyielding prayer and faith.

Biographical Record

Taken to Babylon as a youth during Nebuchadnezzar's conquest, Daniel resolved not to defile himself with royal food and wine. Gifted with divine understanding in all visions and dreams, he decrypted Nebuchadnezzar's colossal statue dream and Belshazzar's doom written by a mystical hand.

When Persian court rivals conspired to forbid prayer for thirty days, Daniel prayed three times daily facing Jerusalem; thrown into a den of ravenous lions, an angel shut the lions' mouths, leaving his faith vindicated before King Darius.
