Biographical Record

Born Mohamed Gaber in the Sayyida Zainab quarter of Cairo, Nour El-Sherif was a gifted footballer for Zamalek SC before discovering acting at the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts, discovered by legendary director Hassan El-Imam.

As producer, he financed the risky directorial debuts of Atef El-Tayeb, Mohamed Khan, and Samir Seif. His courageous performance as assassinated Palestinian cartoonist Naji al-Ali and as Averroës in Youssef Chahine's Destiny (Al-Massir) won worldwide critical acclaim.
