Biographical Record

Nimbarkacharya (c. 12th century CE) resided in the sacred groves of Vrindavan. In his foundational commentary on the Brahma Sutras, 'Vedanta Parijata Saurabha', Nimbarka formulated the profound metaphysical doctrine of 'Bhedabheda' (Simultaneous Difference and Non-Difference).

Nimbarka explained that individual souls (Jiva) and the material cosmos (Jagat) are both distinct from God (Brahman) in their attributes and limitations, yet completely non-different from Him because they depend wholly upon Him for their existence, like rays of light to the sun or waves to the ocean.
