Biographical Record
Neil Ellwood Peart, known reverently to musicians worldwide as "The Professor," was born in Hamilton, Ontario, and raised in St. Catharines. Joining bassist Geddy Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson in the power trio Rush in 1974, Peart transformed the band into a progressive rock titan through his virtuosic polyrhythms and literate lyrics drawing from science fiction, mythology, and philosophy.
Rush sold over forty million albums worldwide, led by landmarks like 2112, Moving Pictures, and "Tom Sawyer." Peart was named Best Rock Drummer by Modern Drummer magazine an unprecedented nine consecutive times and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada.
