Biographical Record
Napaleon Orda was born on February 11, 1807, in Varatsevichy in the Brest region. Participating in the November Uprising of 1830, he was forced into exile in Paris, where he studied piano under Frédéric Chopin and painting under Pierre Gérard, heading the Italian Opera in Paris.
Returning following an 1856 amnesty, Orda devoted his remaining life to systematically documenting historical architecture. Traveling on foot and by horse carriage across Belarus, Volhynia, and Lithuania, he completed over 1,000 precise architectural landscapes of grand ducal castles (such as Mir and Nesvizh), wooden churches, and aristocratic palaces, providing irreplaceable historical records.
