Biographical Record
Nabile Farès was the son of Abderrahmane Farès, President of the Provisional Executive in 1962. Immersed in the turmoil of the War of Independence from adolescence, he studied philosophy and ethnology in Paris, later working closely with Jacques Lacan in psychoanalysis.
His revolutionary novels, notably 'Yahia, Pas de Chance' (1970) and 'Un Passager de l'Occident' (1971), dismantled classical narrative structures to explore memory, oral traditions, and the suppressed pluricultural richness of North Africa. He also translated the oral poetry of the Tuareg and Kabyle peoples.
