Biographical Record
Neill Kirby McMillan Jr. was born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Combining rockabilly guitar, punk irreverence, and howling humor, he adopted the stage persona "Mojo Nixon" in the early 1980s, pairing with washboard virtuoso Skid Roper in San Diego.
Nixon became an icon of college radio and MTV's alternative programming with hilarious satirical songs including "Stuffy Turkey," "Burn Down the Malls," and their 1987 breakthrough "Elvis Is Everywhere" ("Elvis is in your mom! Elvis is in your dog!"). His outrageous 1989 track "Debbie Gibson Is Pregnant with My Two-Headed Love Child" provoked controversy when MTV banned the video, though Debbie Gibson herself famously agreed to star in the clip. Nixon also acted in films including Great Balls of Fire! (1989) and Super Mario Bros. (1993) as Toad, and spent two decades as a beloved, razor-tongued DJ on SiriusXM's Outlaw Country channel. He died doing what he loved aboard the annual Outlaw Country Cruise.
