Moïse Kisling (1891–1953 CE) studied at the Kraków Academy before arriving in Montparnasse in 1910, volunteering for the French Foreign Legion during World War I and being wounded at the Somme.
Acclaimed for his glossy, masterfully finished nudes and portraits of artists and bohemians (such as Kiki de Montparnasse), he radiated warmth and sheltered dozens of struggling immigrant artists.
