Archival Overview
Sensitive master landscape painter of Blida and the Mitidja plain, renowned for his serene impressions of orange orchards, Chiffa gorges, and rural daily life.
Biographical Record
Mohamed Zmirli was born in Tizi Ouzou and settled in the lush agricultural city of Blida. Teaching himself painting with fierce dedication before completing formal artistic studies, he gained national recognition in the 1930s for his luminous landscapes.
Zmirli's oils captured the morning mist rising over the Chiffa mountain streams, the blossoming orange groves of Boufarik, and the ancient courtyards of Blida with extraordinary delicacy of light and atmospheric nuance. His works are preserved in the National Museum of Fine Arts of Algiers.
