Biographical Record

Mohamed Daoud was the intellectual dean of Tetouan during the 20th century. In 1924, he founded the private modern Moroccan school 'Al-Madrasa al-Ahlia' to educate northern Moroccan youth in Arabic literature, sciences, and patriotic history free from Spanish colonial curricula.

He served as secretary of state for education in the northern Khalifa government and authored Tarikh Titwan (History of Tetouan) in twelve volumes, a peerless encyclopedic history of northern Morocco's diplomatic, military, and artistic heritage.
