"When the allun drums beat in unison, the mountain breathes as one living soul."

Archival Overview

Legendary Amayna (master) of Middle Atlas Amazigh Ahidous, whose charismatic leadership of communal allnatt circle dances and allun (frame drum) rhythms defined Moroccan mountain folklore.

Biographical Record

Cheikh Mohamed Bouzroud was the living emblem of Ahidous choral art in Khenifra and the Zayane country. Leading troupes of dozens of men and women shoulder-to-shoulder in hypnotic undulating lines, Bouzroud was celebrated for his spontaneous poetic improvisation (Izlan).

He represented Morocco at international folklore festivals across four continents, preserving ancient Amazigh communal democratic ethos through rhythm, poetry, and movement.
