Biographical Record
Mohamed Bachir El Ibrahimi studied in Medina and Damascus, where he mastered classical Arabic rhetoric and Islamic sciences, collaborating closely with Arab Enlightenment thinkers before returning to Algeria in 1920. Alongside Ben Badis, he became the organizational backbone of the Algerian cultural resistance.
Following Ben Badis's passing in 1940, El Ibrahimi assumed the presidency of the Association of Algerian Muslim Ulema, enduring colonial internment and exile. His legendary prose works, collected in Athar al-Bashir al-Ibrahimi, remain among the highest achievements of modern Arabic literature.
