Legendary Rajput princess and supreme Bhakti poet-saint whose ecstatic bhajans to Lord Krishna defied royal patriarchy and caste taboos, inspiring millions across India.

Biographical Record

Mirabai (c. 1498–1546 CE) was born into the royal Rathore clan of Mewar and married Prince Bhoj Raj of Chittor, but regarded Krishna as her sole eternal husband.

Surviving attempts by her in-laws to poison her, she left the palace to dance and sing among wandering ascetics and outcasts, authoring hundreds of sublime devotional padavali (songs).
