Beloved Lebanese philosopher, poet, and novelist who co-founded the New York Pen League and authored 'The Book of Mirdad'.
Biographical Record
Mikhail Naimy was born at the foot of Mount Sannine in Baskinta. Educated at the Russian Imperial Seminary in Poltava, Ukraine, and the University of Washington, he settled in New York City, where in 1920 he co-founded the legendary emigrant literary society Al-Rabitah al-Qalamiyyah (The Pen League) alongside Kahlil Gibran, serving as its intellectual theorist.
In 1932, Naimy returned permanently to Baskinta, living a quiet, ascetic life of contemplation for over fifty years. His spiritual masterpiece, The Book of Mirdad (1948), praised by Osho as one of the greatest spiritual texts ever written, alongside his penetrating critical study Al-Ghirbal (The Sieve) and his biography of Gibran, established him as an immortal sage of world literature.
