Michele Alboreto

Michele Alboreto (1956–2001) was a consummate Italian racing driver celebrated for his speed, versatility, and impeccable sportsmanship. Alboreto won five Formula One Grands Prix, competing for Tyrrell and Scuderia Ferrari, where he finished runner-up in the 1985 World Drivers' Championship behind Alain Prost.

Later enjoying an exceptional endurance racing career, he won the 1997 24 Hours of Le Mans co-driving a Joest Racing Porsche TWR WSC-95 with Stefan Johansson and Tom Kristensen. Alboreto died in 2001 testing an Audi R8 at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz.
