Maureen Catherine Connolly Brinker (1934–1969), affectionately called Little Mo after the battleship USS Missouri for her devastating groundstrokes, was one of tennis's most dominant phenomena. Between 1951 and 1954, Connolly won nine consecutive Grand Slam singles tournaments entered, compiling a 50-match winning streak.

In 1953, at only 18 years old, she became the first woman in history to win all four Grand Slam tournaments in a single calendar year. Tragically, a horseback riding accident in 1954 crushed her right fibula, ending her career at age 19. She succumbed to cancer at just 34.
