Archival Overview

Monumental Lebanese composer, poet, and dramatist of the Rahbani Brothers whose epic philosophical musicals spanned half a century.

Biographical Record

Mansour Rahbani was born in Antelias and served in the police force before dedicating his life entirely to musical composition and theatrical literature with his brother Assi. Together with Fairuz, they created an unparalleled cultural legacy of musical theatre that redefined Arab identity, civil rights, and artistic excellence.

Following Assi's death in 1986, Mansour continued to write and produce monumental philosophical musicals, including The Last Days of Socrates, The Rise of the Falcon, and Zenobia. His penetrating poetic verses, choral grandeur, and unflinching defense of human liberty against tyrannical power established him as a patriarch of modern Arab culture.
