Biographical Record
Son of a tribal prince of Mauretania Tingitana who had allied with Rome, Lusius Quietus commanded an elite division of unbridled Berber light horsemen. His cavalry's audacity proved decisive in Trajan's conquest of Dacia, immortalized on Trajan's Column in Rome.
Elevated to the Roman Senate, he captured Nisibis and Edessa during the Parthian War and crushed the Kitos War revolt in the East. Made Roman Consul in 117 CE, he was perceived as a dangerous rival by Hadrian and executed in 118 CE.
