Archival Overview

Prominent early Christian prophet and teacher mentioned in the biblical Acts of the Apostles (13:1), who co-founded the multi-ethnic Church of Antioch and consecrated Paul and Barnabas for their missions.

Biographical Record

Hailing from the Hellenized Jewish community of Cyrene in eastern Libya, Lucius was among the adventurous North African believers who arrived in Antioch following the dispersal of believers from Jerusalem.

Breaking ethnic barriers, he was among the first to preach the gospel directly to Greeks in Antioch. As recorded in Acts 13:1, he was one of the leading prophets who laid hands on Paul and Barnabas to send them on their epochal world missionary journeys.
