Biographical Record

Born in captivity in Mathura and raised among cowherds in the pastoral groves of Vrindavan, Krishna captivated all with his celestial flute music and conquest of demonic forces. Later ruling as sovereign of maritime Dwarka, he served as counselor to the Pandavas.

On the eve of the great Mahabharata war, observing the warrior Arjuna paralyzed by grief, Krishna delivered the 700 verses of the Bhagavad Gita, synthesizing spiritual wisdom on the immortality of the soul, duty without attachment, and supreme devotion.
