Biographical Record
Leslie Miscampbell Frost was a decorated World War I officer wounded at Neuville-Vitasse who served as Premier of Ontario from 1949 to 1961. Nicknamed "Old Man Ontario" and "The Silver Fox," Frost oversaw the greatest economic and demographic boom in the province's history.
Frost constructed the 800-kilometer Macdonald-Cartier Freeway (Highway 401), created the Ontario Water Resources Commission, expanded universities like York and Waterloo, and passed pioneering anti-discrimination legislation: the 1951 Fair Employment Practices Act and 1954 Fair Accommodation Practices Act, paving the way for the Ontario Human Rights Code.
