Biographical Record
Laurent Terzieff was the son of a Russian sculptor who fled the Bolshevik Revolution. Discovered by Marcel Carné, he made a sensational film debut in 'Les Tricheurs' (1958) before working with European cinema legends Pier Paolo Pasolini ('The Milky Way', 'Medea') and Luis Buñuel.
In 1961, Terzieff founded the Compagnie Laurent Terzieff with Pascale de Boysson, establishing an uncompromising independent theater that introduced French audiences to Samuel Beckett, Edward Albee, Slawomir Mrozek, and Bertolt Brecht. In 2010, weeks before his death, he won the Molière Award for Best Actor.
