Lal Bahadur Shastri was an Indian statesman who served as the second Prime Minister of India from 1964 to 1966. Revered for his exemplary humility and incorruptible simplicity, he led India through the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, coined the immortal national slogan 'Jai Jawan Jai Kisan', promoted the White Revolution (dairy) and Green Revolution, and signed the Tashkent Peace Agreement.
