Biographical Record
Knowlton Nash was an enduring titan of Canadian journalism. After reporting for the wire service United Press in postwar Europe and serving as CBC's Washington correspondent covering the Cuban Missile Crisis, Vietnam War, and civil rights marches, Nash was appointed Director of News and Current Affairs for CBC Television in 1969.
From 1978 to 1988, Nash served as the trusted chief anchor of CBC's flagship nightly broadcast, The National. In 1988, he stepped aside gracefully so Peter Mansbridge could assume the chair. Nash authored nine bestselling books on Canadian broadcasting and political history.
